The Crikvenica Riviera, where JadranCrikvenica Hotels & Cam operates was a sea bath resort at the end of the 18th Century. It was back in the Habsburg Monarchy when the area was only popular with the elite. After 1945, tourism development took a sharp pause as hotels and villas were turned into hospitals and rehabilitation centers for the war. It was only in 1960s that the Jadran took over the destructed properties, turned them into private accommodations, which not only welcomed dwellers but also gave local people employment opportunities. Crikvenica has always been a backbone in the local tourism, so it was easy for it to bounce back into the business.
In 1964, the renovation was completed. At that time, new hotels were built and some were restored: International, Mediteran, Esplanade, Riviera Dramalj, and the hotels that had en suited bathrooms, which was then a modern standard. More companies collaborated with the Jadran Company and the bed numbers increases to 4200 in the 1970s. In 1988, the company built Hotel Kastel from the former resort Kamensko, which is now a 3 star hotel deemed as the pearl of the Jadran Company Hotels. After 1993, the company’s biggest transformation yet, they started selling assets.
