Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport in Izmir, Turkey is one of the top international airports serving the region as well as several others nearby provinces in Turkey. The airport was named as a tribute to one of its former Prime Ministers, Adnan Menderes. Situated 11 miles from the Gaziemir District, ADB-Adnan Menderes is also a military base. The original terminal is now Cigli Air Base and is used by the army since 2014 after the opening of the new domestic terminal. A total of 12.8 million passengers were served in the airport in 2017.
