American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas is an entertainment complex that serves as a venue for conventions, exhibits, live performances, sporting events, trade shows, and many more. Inaugurated in 1967, it has 3 main facilities - American Bank Center Arena, American Bank Center Convention Center, and Selena Auditorium. The arena, which has a seating capacity of 10,000, is used for concerts and sporting events. The convention center, which opened in 1967, has 21 meeting rooms, 5 exhibit halls, and 2 ballrooms. The auditorium, which opened in 1979, has a seating capacity of 2,500. 

Fun things to do in the area include visiting the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay. Previously off-limits sections are being opened to the public every few years. At the forward aircraft elevator space, a MEGA theater was recently installed. It was proclaimed a National Historic Landmark in 2003. Tourists should also visit Goose Island State Park in nearby Rockport. Activities in the park include birding, boating, camping, and fishing. It is famous for “The Big Tree”, a southern live oak believed to be more than a thousand years old. Another interesting, nearby site to visit is the Fulton Mansion State Historic Site in Fulton. It is one of the first Second Empire style buildings established in the state. One of the nearest hotels to the American Bank Center is the Omni Corpus Christi Hotel. The 4-star hotel’s own in-house restaurant, Republic of Texas Bar and Grill, offers steaks and other American cuisine specialties. Another prominent hotel in the area is Radisson Hotel Corpus Christi Beach. Some of its rooms have breathtaking sea views.
