Built in 1930 by the German Air Ministry, Braunschweig Wolfsburg Airport is a privately owned and public-used airport in the city of Braunschweig in the Lower Saxony, Germany. It has assigned IATA airport code of BWE, which is originally the center of gliding, competitive air recreational sport in Germany and is mainly utilized for private aviation transport. The airport is the home base of Lufthart-Bundesamt, a German Federal Aviation Office, which is accountable for the maintenance of Germany’s safety standards for aviation; and also the venue for few of Braunschweig University of Technology’s aeronautical departments.
