Camden: Exploring Historic Civil War Sites and Museums
Originally a traders post known as Ecore A Fabri, Camden has a rich history tied to the river. Known as the “Queen City” during the steamboat era, Camden played a big role during the Red River Campaign. This Civil War effort was the fire-starter that resulted in several significant battles during that period. Now the current seat of Ouachita County, Camden, AR became a railroad town after the steamboat era faded. It became an important depot for shipping cotton during the earlier decades of the 20th century. Professional football players Shawn Andrews, Stacy Andrews and Jonathan Davis were from this region.

July is the busiest month for tourism in Camden. October would be a perfect and affordable month to get to the city to get to enjoy the Movies on The River held every Saturday night through October 27. March, meanwhile allows you to enjoy the Camden Daffodil Festival.
