The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located in Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. It is the primary international airport serving the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. It was named after the first president and vice president of Indonesia. It is about 12 miles from the Jakarta city center. It is a public airport and is owned by the Government of Indonesia. It is also the hub for Garuda Indonesia, the country’s national airline. French architect Paul Andreu designed terminals 1 and 2. The concept for the design is described as ‘Garden with an Airport’. A refurbishment of the terminals will be completed by 2022. Its purpose is to increase the airport’s capacity and for it to be able to handle up to 61 million passengers per annum.
