Elmira Corning Regional Airport is a public airport owned by the County of Chemung located in Big Flats specifically seven miles northwest of Elmira and eight miles east of Corning; thus, the name. Before sharing the name with Corning, the airport was just formerly Elmira Regional Airport. The airport is mainly opened to serve the southern part of New York. Interestingly, although the airport is located in Big Flats, its mailing address is Horseheads, New York.

Elmira Corning Regional Airport covers a total land area of 400 hectares with three runways where two of which are paved with asphalt and one with turf. The airport was recently renovated with increased airport passenger space, two jet bridges, 300 parking spaces and a significant space for a bar and restaurant. The airport serves Allegiant Air, Delta Connection and United Express. Detroit, Michigan is the busiest route followed by Orlando, Sanford, St. Petersburg and Clearwater in Florida, Newark in New Jersey and Atlanta in Georgia.
