Ferguson Center for the Arts, in Newport News, Virginia, is part of the Christopher Newport University that houses the theater, music, and art departments in the building’s academic section. Generally, it is a theater and concert hall that opened in September 2005 and is considered the leading performing arts center in and outside of Southeastern Virginia. It is made up of three unique, separate spaces: the Diamonstein Concert Hall, the Studio Theater, and the Peebles Theater, along with other facilities like a dance studio, rehearsal halls, art studios, music practice rooms, and more.
During the past years, Ferguson Center for the Arts has hosted over 600 various performances. Only a 19-minute drive from the arts center is the King-Lincoln Park, which has a beach, a playground, basketball and tennis courts, and picnic shelters. Just south of Newport News is the city of Hampton that is proud of many beautiful sites, such as Buckroe Beach and Sandy Bottom Nature Park, which offers chair, umbrella, and kayak rentals, and has areas for biking, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities, respectively.
