Holesov Airport – GTW-Holesov
The Holesov Airport was a public airport located in the city of Zlin, Czech Republic. The airport’s code was GTW. It’s a small airport type but there is not much information about the airport. It served the city of Holesov in the Zlin Region, which is known for its garden complexes and chateaus. The GTW-Holesov airport was inaugurated in 1946, and after some operations it closed in 2009 for redevelopment of the property. At present, the airport’s location has been transformed into the Czech Republic’s biggest hub, the Strategic Industrial Zone.
Best Time to Visit
The only information on the former Holesov Airport was that it had two runways. The first runway measured 3,937 feet long, while the other runway measured 5,905 feet long. From the former location of the GTW Airport, travelers will find it easy to reach the central business district and explore all that Holesov and the region has to offer. There are castles by the Styrian Rottal Family to see, and there are Jewish synagogues from the 16th century.
