The Hat Yai International Airport is one of the six international airports in Thailand. The airport is located and serves Hat Yai City, Songkhla Province in Southern Thailand and the nearby towns. Tourism in Hat Yai City and its proximity to Malaysia added the frequency of passengers coming in and out the country. The city is a commercial hub and shopping destination. Since the airport is designed for 2.5 million passengers and 3.56 million passengers are seen passing through the airport, authorities planned to expand the airport to serve 4.5 million by 2018 and 10 million by 2030. As of the present the airport accommodates no less than 4.5 million passengers and a hub for ThaiAir Asia. The best places you can easily drive from the airport are Ban Phru, Bang Khiat City, and Bang Klam district.
