Heligoland Airport – HGL Heligoland
Heligoland Airport is a public airfield situated 43 miles from the mainland of the German island of Dune. It is the smaller island of the Heligoland archipelago in the North Sea. The airfield is run by Helgoland Air Services and serves Heligoland, Germany. It started during the World War II and is considered as the first military airfield in Dune.

Heligoland Airport (HGL) has three concrete runways measuring 1,575 feet, 1,217 feet and 846 feet in length. The runway is compliant with the EU regulations for commercial air traffic. It has a license to handle up to 12,600 pounds maximum takeoff weight for aero planes and up to 22,000 pounds for helicopters. Pilots need to be well-experienced and especially skilled due to the limited runway length and hostile weather conditions. The airport is served by OFD Ostfriesischer-Flug-Dienst serving destinations in Cuxhaven, Nordholz and Heide-Busum. A single taxi serves as a transport from the airport to the ferry boat terminal, where ferry boats that will bring people to the main island of Heligoland, is stationed. The airport is nearby the places of Bad St. Peter-Ording and St. Peter-Ording.
