Westchester County Airport – HPN
Owned by the county of Westchester, Westchester County Airport is about six kilometers from the downtown area of White Plains, New York. It is often called White Plains Airport and goes by the code HPN. This airport mostly serves the suburban areas of the counties of Westchester and Fairfield, along with the metropolitan area of New York. The construction of the HPN-Westchester County Airport dates back to the World War II-era in 1942. It was originally a base for the Air National Guard who are assigned to protect New York City and Rye Lake until 1983 when they moved to the Stewart International Airport.

The airport has a total of five airlines, with passenger flights to sixteen destinations in the country. From almost a million passengers in 2010, the airport accommodated nearly 1.5 million passengers in 2013. Westchester County Airport’s total land area is 702 acres with two asphalt paved runways and a small three-level terminal featuring six gates. From the airport, you can visit the nearby cities of New York, Jamaica, and Long Island City.
