The charming small city of Izamal, Mexico is located in the Yucatan State. It is found 45 miles from the state capital of Merida. This southern Mexican city has had a long history and has been continuously occupied during most of the Mesoamerican period. As of the 2000 census, the city reported a population of 15,000 people. Izamal is nicknamed the ‘Yellow City’ as most of its buildings and structures are painted yellow. You can easily access Izamal via the local rail and bus systems.
