Gunsan Airport is a public airport with IATA code KUV that serves the city of Gunsan, South Korea. The Republic of Korea Air Force, the Korea Airports Corporation, and the United States Air Force operate the airport. Gunsan Airport opened to the public in 1970 on U.S. military land and soon became a busy aviation and cargo port for South Korea. Despite being a relatively small terminal, it has catered to as many as 400,000 passengers a year in the early 90s.

After opening in the early 1970s and serving a main flight route between Seoul and Gunsan, Gunsan Airport was forced to close down by 1974 due to an oil shortage. It was reopened with refurnished facilities in 1991 and expanded its flight reach to Gimpo and Jeju, experiencing a marked increase in yearly passenger traffic. The airport is also home to the Kunsan Air Base, where the U.S. Air Force operates out of in Seoul. Gunsan Airport is conveniently near several major South Korean cities, including Jeonju, Hamdae, and Tongsansi, making it an ideal transit point for inbound tourists.
