Kavala International Airport is a public airport operated by a group venture under FraportAG and Copelouzos. Situated in Kavala, Greece, it serves the nearby areas surrounding the municipality of Nestos and Chrysoupoli. Originally located closer to Kavala, it was moved to a nearby area in October 1981 to be able to improve its services to other nearby areas in Greece such as Thasos, Drama and Xanthi. KVA Airport used to be Kavala National Airport and catered domestic flights. It became an international airport in 1992 and was renamed as Kavala International Airport.

KVA-Alexander the Great Intl. airport operates with its original terminal built in 1981 with extensions added back in 1992. A single asphalt runway operates in the area and several infrastructures to be able to include modern facilities into the airport for better service for both airlines and passengers. Olympic Air is the only airlines that currently serve scheduled flights to Athens. Other airlines in the airport serve seasonal flights and seasonal charter flights to different locations such as Brussels, Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam and Larnaca.
