Kozani National Airport – KZI Filippos
Kozani National Airport is a public airport roughly 2.5 miles southeast of the city of Kozani, Greece along the Kozani-Larissa National Road. Also known as the Filippos Airport, it began its operations back in 1950 when it started out serving military flights. To this day, KZI remains to be a significant gateway to Macedonia Greece. After all, the mountain cityof Kozani and hotels near the airportreceive their fair share of tourists who want to explore its centuries-old library, the miniature Grand Canyon, and saffron.
Best Time to Visit
The KZI-Kozani National Airport is served by Astra Airlines, a Greek regional airline based in Thessaloniki. Regular flights connect Kozani to two other cities in Greece: Athens and Kastoria. While KZI Filippos is only one of two public airports in Western Macedonia, it is not usually an appropriate choice for very large aircrafts. Do a quick visit to Desi and Basia, which are both near the airport.

The closest accommodation to the airport is the Tselikas Hotel in Petrana, Greece, which is just over two miles and just a quick 4-minute drive away.
