Originally called Speke Airport, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is an international airport that serves North West England. The airport is strategically situated within the city of Liverpool, England. The earliest recorded scheduled flights of then Speke Airport was in 1930. As passenger traffic keeps on increasing by 1936, the demand for better facilities and services grew. In 2001, the airport was renamed to Liverpool John Lennon Airport in honor of John Lennon, a singer of the English band, The Beatles.
