Lucignano: Escaping in Italy’s Pearl of Valdichiana
A commune belonging to the Arezzo province, Lucignano, Italy, lies 43 miles from the southeastern edge of the city of Florence. The town was named after the consul Licinio’s Roman family. Lucignano is dubbed as the "pearl of Valdichiana" and has been a popular tourist destination over the years, boasting of several hotels and apartments for the city visitors. It sits on a hilltop, around 1,300 feet above the sea level.

The summer in Lucignano is celebrated with La Maggiolata, a local spring festival that features a floral float competition, live musical entertainment, and plenty of summer activities. The celebration is hosted every May, during which the tourist population is reasonably high. This only decreases in the summer, when the temperatures can get pretty uncomfortable for outdoor tours. Most of Lucignano, Italy, hotels are the most jam-packed in the winter season, starting from November to December.
