Benedito Lacerda Airport is a public airport that serves the city of Macae, Brazil. It has an airport code of MEA and is operated by Switzerland-based company Flughafen Zurich AG. MEA-Benedito Lacerda Airport was named in honor of famed Brazilian musician Benedicto Lacerda, known for composing sambas and waltzes and became a bona fide soloist by 1925. The airport was built in 1960 as both a general aviation airfield and an aero club. A full runway and terminal were constructed by 1980, allowing Benedito Lacerda Airport to support commercial operations.
