About Sheraton By Mattiott Mexico City (and vicinity)
Almost anywhere in the world you will find a Sheraton Hotel when searching for a nice place to stay in. Currently, the company operates over 500 hotels globally, including Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, South and Central America, Africa, Middle East and the Caribbean. Sheraton Hotels is owned by Marriot International.
The history of Sheraton Hotels started when classmates Robert Moore and Ernest Henderson bought Continental Hotel located in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1933. After 4 years, they purchased their second hotel, the Stonehaven Hotel in Springfield, MA. It was in their third hotel that they got its name from, since it already has a big sign on the roof that says Sheraton Hotel, they decided to keep it and call all of their hotels Sheraton Hotel.
In 1968, ITT, a multinational conglomerate purchased the Sheraton chain which was later on named ITT Sheraton. It was in 1992 that the company launched the ITT Sheraton Luxury Collection which was placed in Sheraton’s most exclusive hotels. Aside from Luxury hotels, they also came up with a mid-scale hotel brand to replace the Sheraton Inns and they called it Four Points by Sheraton. In 1998, ITT Sheraton was acquired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc and in 2016 was purchased by Marriott International, which has made Sheraton Hotels one of the largest hotels and resort companies worldwide.
