Montauroux: Summer in the Mountains
A tiny village perched atop of the Alpes-Maritimes area with a fantastic view of the Mediterranean Sea is Montauroux, France. Its strategic and excellent location does not only make it a famous resort town but as well as a favorite hiking spot. Cote d’Azur Airport (NCE) in Nice, France is the international airport serving the town and is about 45 minutes away. Montauroux is home to no more than 7000 residents.
Best Time to Visit
Montauroux, France is said to have 300 days of sunshine per year. There is plenty of sunshine to enjoy and the weather is pleasant so you will not have to worry about when it is best to come for a visit. What you need to worry about though is knowing when to avoid the busiest months in town. These are the months of May to September. Montauroux hotels are also expensive these times. Though when you do visit during this season, you will get the chance to partake in the Montaurock Festival taking place every June.
What to Do & Area Attractions
A traditional church that has been in town since the 12th century is easily one of the main attractions of Montauroux. It is called Church of Saint Barthelemy. Those who wish to enjoy the azure coast of the Mediterranean should head over to Raguette Beach where you can enjoy the fine sand. Though an hour away, the Picasso Museum is also a must-visit especially if you are a huge fan of the world-renowned painter.
Montauroux hotels with outdoor pools and are closest to the town center include Le Relais du lac and Hotel de la Poste. A bit further but equally a good choice is Villa Verdi.
