The Maputo International Airport is known as the largest airport in Mozambique. It is a major public airport that is located in Maputo, Mozambique and serves Maputo area. Its airport code, MPM, stands for the country’s largest and capital city’s name Maputo. Also known as Mavalane International Airport, formerly Lourenco Marquez Airport, the airport was inaugurated in 1963. Many expansion and improvements had been done for the airport. But it was in 2010 that the new international passenger terminal was inaugurated and domestic passenger terminal in 2012. The airport most served destination is Africa but the most used intercontinental destinations are Istanbul, Doha, and Lisbon.

The MPM-Maputo International Airport has two terminals, which are close to each other, Terminal A for international traffic, and Terminal B for domestic routes. The new terminal which is Terminal A is capable of accommodating 900,000 passengers a year. The airport has over 15 cities destination with non-stop flights.
