Nicosia International Airport – NIC Nicosia
The Nicosia International Airport is located within the city of Nicosia, Cyprus. It had an airport code of NIC, and it was originally meant to be the Cypriot Island’s main airport, but largely became derelict after the 1974 invasion of Turkish troops. It is no longer in use as an airport, and was formerly operated by the Royal Air Force, and now owned by the United Nations. The NIC Nicosia Airport’s building is now used as a headquarters of the Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.

Cyprus’s Royal Air Force constructed the Nicosia International Airport in the 1930s. It originally served as a military airport, and commercial services were offered in 1948. In 1949, the airport added its first terminal building, but at present, the interiors of the airport have been largely abandoned. The shell of the Hawker Siddeley Trident still sits in the airport’s runway.
