The major airport serving the capital of Jiangsu Province which is Nanjing, China, the Lukuo International Airport is situated in Jiangning District. This international airport is about 35 km from the heart of the city. It serves as the hub for Jiangsu Company’s China Eastern Airlines, as well as the main base for handling express mail and transportation for cargo.

NKG-Lukuo International Airport first started its construction during the year 1995, 28th of February. When it was completed 2 years after, it started its operation by July 1st. Although during that time, civilian operations were being transferred to Nanjing Djiaochang Airport before being converted to a Chinese military airbase. The approval for foreign aircrafts to operate in this airport commenced on November 18, 1997. In 2017, Lukuo International Airport (NKG) was able to accommodate 25,822,936 passengers. With Nanjing and Liangpeng nearby, this number has grown over the years. To accommodate the vast number of passengers each year, it has continuously upgraded and maintained its facilities like the 2 3600-meter runways, 2 control towers, 2 terminals, a cargo center, an apron, and a transportation center.
