Taichung International Airport – RMQ Taichung
Constructed during the Japanese rule era, Taichung International Airport was known as Kokan Airport. The airport was expanded in 1954, and its name was then changed to Ching Chuang Kang Airport. During this time, the US Air Force uses the area to establish joint forces airbase with Taiwan. It was the largest air force base of America in the Far East. In fact, the airport served as a depot for the American Air Force during the Vietnam War. In 1979 the airbase was shut down, and by 2003, passenger facilities were constructed. The following year, the airport began its civilian services operating in Taichung, Taiwan.

The airport of Taichung used to serve domestic flights only. However, as the demand for economic development and the growth of the tourism industry, the airport moves from Shuinan Airport to Ching Chuang Kang Airport. Upon the promotion of the airport to an international airport, it was renamed to Taichung International Airport. To accommodate its growing number of passengers each year, a brand new terminal was constructed with environment-friendly facilities, such as power-saving and carbon reduction. As of 2018, the terminal was able to accommodate 1.7 million passengers. From the airport, travelers can easily access popular tourist destinations, such as Heping or Longjing.
