Rennes–Saint-Jacques Airport – RNS
Locally known as Aéroport de Rennes–Saint-Jacques, Rennes–Saint-Jacques Airport is a public-use airport in the Brittany region, which is currently operated by CCI Rennes. This minor international airport, whose IATA airport code is RNS, is located six kilometers from the southwestern side of the city of Rennes, France, in the Ille-et-Vilaine department. The airport once served as a Luftwaffe military airfield when the Germans conquered the region in June 1940. When Rennes–Saint-Jacques Airport was finally liberated in August 1944, it was transformed into a USAAF Ninth Air Force combat field. It was only in November of that same year when the airfield was returned to the French civil control.
Best Time to Visit
The Rennes–Saint-Jacques Airport has three runways, two of which are paved. The main airstrip, which is 2,100 meters in length, can accommodate planes carrying 180 passengers. It is also capable of handling Boeing 757 and 767, Ilyushin IL-76, and Airbus A310 aircraft for cargo. Meanwhile, the secondary paved airstrip, spanning to a length of 850 meters, is basically for light motorized planes used in either business or leisure.
