Scanno: L’Aquila Classic Italian Experience

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Scanno is during the months of April through October, for the perfect weather. The busiest months are usually during the first quarter of the year, January through March. Tourists are least likely to visit in December. One of the most anticipated events in the area is Costume Festival, which is held every late April. It features the traditional Abruzzese dress, which involves a bodice with puffed sleeves; a full, black skirt; and a headdress of braided fabric.
What to Do & Area Attractions
One of the most famous attractions nearby is Eremo di San Domenico in Villalago. It is a hermitage completed in the early 10th century. Tourists should also visit Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Lake or Annunciation when in the area. It is a small church consecrated in the early 18th century. Inside it are paintings by Archangel and Egidio Berardi, Silvio Centofanti, and Vittorio Spanish that date back to the early 20th century. It has a small sagrado that offers a breathtaking view of Lake Scanno. While it has been expanded and renovated many times, it remains in all its glory until today.
