Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport is the primary international airport in Georgia situated 11 miles southeast of Tbilisi. United Airports of Georgia LLC and run by TAV Airport Holdings own it. The airport was built in 1952 but it was only in 1990 that the new terminal was finished and designed with an international style. Passengers continue to flock the airport as its number tripled to 2.2 million passengers from 2009 to 2016.
