Located six kilometers from the city of Tours, France, the Tours Val de Loire Airport is a public-military type of airfield operated by the Ministère de la Défense. The airport is under the Indre-et-Loire department, between the territories of the communes of Parçay-Meslayand Tours. Tours Val de Loire Airport, which is recognized by its IATA location identifier TUF, primarily handles the passenger traffic from the city of Tours and its neighboring towns. The airport was originally a French Air Force training center back in World War I. It was then used for military purposes by the US Air Force and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It was only in the early part of 1960 when the airport began its commercial operations.
