Turangi: Where Fishing is an Obsession
Turangi, New Zealand is situated beside the Tongariro River. This is the reason why fishing is the town’s obsession. Rainbow Trout is thriving in the river. Unofficially, it is the headquarters of trout fishing in the country. It calls all the fishers in the town and nearby areas. The famous Lake Taupo is about 6 miles away. The Tauranga-Taupo River is also nearby Turangi. The town is also considered as a trout haven and the government is conserving the area. Aside from fishing, it is also a town that can be a great base for hiking. It is the home of the Tongariro River Trail which is a known picturesque bike trail.

Turangi i-SITE Visitor Centre is part of New Zealand’s network for tourists. It is located on the south side of Lake Taupo. It is also the gateway to Tongariro National Park and Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Tokaanu Thermal Pools is found in the village where hot spring is running in the town.
