Overlooking the Whistler Village and is set on the sides of the mountain of Blackcomb, the Whistler Sliding Centre is a premier bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton facility that serves as the first and only site in the country for public bobsleighing. This facility is located inside the Whistler Blackcomb resort and has been the venue of several bobsleigh, skeleton, and luge competitions during the Winter Olympics in 2010. Constructed from 2005 to 2007, the Whistler Sliding Centre was finally opened in December 2007. It offers a total capacity of 12,000 people with a field size of 4,760 feet for the bobsleigh and skeleton, 4,508 feet for the luge men’s singles, 3,930 feet for the luge women’s singles and men’s doubles, and 3,127 feet for the junior.
As you explore Whistler, make sure to drop by the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. This cultural facility is home to the unique culture and heritage of the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations. If you’re visiting during the summer season, the Alpha Lake Park is a popular destination, as it offers various outdoor amenities, including a beach, a tennis court, BBQ stands, and picnic tables.
