Windsor: A Small Wonder in Massachusetts
Windsor, MA is a town in Berkshire County that was first settled in 1767. It was incorporated 4 years later. Originally, it was called “Gageborough” in honor of Gen. Thomas Gage. However, due to his involvement in the Revolutionary War, the town was renamed. Its current name was after Windsor, CT because it is where many of the first settlers emigrated from.

The perfect time to visit Windsor is during the months of April through October, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually from June until August. Tourists are least likely to visit in November. Every October, the Berkshire Drum and Dance Fest is held. It gathers the community to celebrate contemporary and folkloric dancing and drumming. Another interesting event in the area is Berkshires Arts Festival, which is held every July. Considered as one of the country’s most respected art events during the summer, it features the finest local arts and crafts, food, and puppet shows.

Notchview is one of the most famous attractions in town. A conservation property, it is a primary Nordic Skiing center every winter. There are trails of varying difficulty levels, from beginner to advanced. Snowshoeing is also allowed in the property, with a dedicated trail. It is open year-round, with non-winter activities including bird-watching and hiking. Tourists should also visit Wahconah Falls State Park in Dalton, where they could enjoy fishing, hiking, and swimming.
