Timmins Victor M. Power Airport – YTS Timmins
First opened in 1955, Timmins Victor M. Power Airport is a city-owned public airport in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. It is situated 6.9 miles northwest of the city of Timmins. The airport serves scheduled passenger flights to different places in Canada. It also serves cargo flights and general aviation including the medical evacuation air ambulance (MEDEVAC), flight training and forest fire fighting. The airport can serve up to 150,000 passengers annually. In honor of Timmins’ previous mayor, Victor M. Power, the airport was renamed after him.
Best Time to Visit
YTS-Timmins Victor M. Power Airport has two asphalt runways measuring 6,000 and 4,907 feet respectively. Car parking in the airport is automated, car rental services are also available inside the terminal. The city of Timmins where the airport is located is known to be the “City with the Heart of Gold.” The gold rush that happened in 1990 earned the city its nickname. Timmins is set in one of the Western Hemisphere’s richest mineral producing areas. Tourists who visit the place can do mining tours and outdoor recreations. From the YTS, also visit the nearby South Porcupine.
