Bentota River Airport- BJT
Bentota River Airport is a public-use airfield found on the coastal town of Bentota, Sri Lanka, in the district of Galle in the Southern Province. It handles the passenger traffic from the city of Bentota and other neighboring areas. While the airport does not have any recognized International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) location identifier, it is known internationally as BJT, its International Air Transport Association (IATA) airport code.
Best Time to Visit
Since the airport is identified as a waterdrome type, one of the twenty constructed in the country, there are no concrete runways found in the airfield itself. The only airline currently providing flights to and from Bentota River Airport is SriLankan Airlines, the flag carrier of the country. The airline is operated by Cinnamon Air via a Cessna 208 Amphibian aircraft. Cinnamon Air connects Bentota River to Bandaranaike International Airport found in the suburb of Katunayake and serves as the main international airport of Sri Lanka. If you happen to visit the area, make sure to also explore the nearby towns of Galle and Walahanduwa.
