Best Time to Visit
Established in the mid-1980s, Donegal Airport used to have grass surface type runways. Through the assistance of the Ireland government, the airport's facilities were improved and by adding a new terminal building with upgraded navigational aids as well as extending its runway to 4,900 feet to accommodate larger aircraft. With these improvements, the growing number of passengers traveling to and from Donegal increases each year. This is also due to the rising popularity of Donegal County, as well as Letterkenny, which is known for its gothic-style cathedral, as one of the best tourist destinations in Ireland.
