Chuncheon: The City of Spring River
Chuncheon, South Korea is located close to the Soyang River and the Han River – hence the name. The city name literally translates to “Spring River” and is surrounded by multiple bodies of water. If you’re a fan of Korean drama, then you should know that the city was actually the site of the show Winter Sonata which garnered millions of view across East Asia.

Chuncheon, South Korea hotels are packed practically the whole year because of Korea’s beautiful weather. If you time your visit just right, you can also enjoy some of their most popular festivals like the International Mine Festival celebrated every spring. There’s also the Marathon race which started in 1946 and continues to this day, every October of the year. If you just want to avoid the crowd however, try visiting from November onwards and take advantage of the cheaper hotel prices.

Most Chuncheon lodging are done in a modern façade and located smack in the center of the city. From any of these hotels, you can easily visit the Animation Museum for the kids or the Chuncheon Puppet Theater for the young at heart. Those looking for some physical exertion can check out the Deungseon Falls, the Gugok Falls, or the Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort. Don’t forget to visit the Gangwon Provincial Flower Garden with their incredible varieties of flowers, and the Jipdarigol Recreation Forest.
