Located in Essex County, Georgetown is a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. The first settlement in Georgetown was in 1639, led by Reverend Ezekiel Rogers, on a town named Rowley. Farmers soon settled on the western part of this area, which became known as “New Rowley.” This settlement grew so much that it was incorporated as a town in 1838 and was given the name Georgetown. Today, Georgetown, MA is mostly residential, a sparse suburb with many parks, restaurants, a separate municipal school district and a public lakeside beach, among other features.
