Golaghat: From Tea Plantations to Thick Forests
Golaghat, India is one of the largest oldest urbanized areas in the district of the same name, Golaghat. Its name translates into “shop in the landing point of river ferry or boat,” which refers to the city being a port town in the past. There is a well-established history in the city that you will find many historic and heritage sites on your visit. The city is also famous for its local tea.
Best Time to Visit
A subtropical highland climate prevails over at Golaghat. During the summer, it is hot and humid. On the other hand, winter is cooler. It significantly rains throughout the year but much less during winter. The most recommended months to visit are March to May and October as these have the most comfortable weather. These are also the months less likely to have a lot of tourists in the city, and thus, you can get Golaghat hotels for cheaper rates. Golaghat Festival also takes place in March annually.
