Grosseto Airport – GRS Airport
Grosseto Airport is located 1.9 kilometers west of Grosseto in Tuscany, Italy. It is classified as a joint-use facility, where it is used both by the air force and civilian air service. Best Time to Visit
The history of GRS Airport dates back to World War II where it was then known as Grosetta Main. The airport stands on an elevation of 15 feet above mean sea level and has two asphalted runways. One runway, 03L/21R is 2,994 feet long and 03R/21L is 2,356 feet long. As of 2012, there were a record of 4,382 passengers and 1,732 aircraft operations. However, as of August 30 2018, there are no longer any regular passenger flights departing or arriving from Grosseto Airport. Residents from nearby cities used to benefit from GRS such as Arenella, Giglio Campese, and Giglio Porto.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Several hotels are located near the Grosseto Airport. Hotel Nuova Grosseto is also a short drive away from the airport and is a no-fuss hotel that offers clean and simple rooms. For a more chic and inviting accommodation option, the Hotel Airone is a perfect choice and is also a short driving distance away from GRS.
Since there are no more regular passenger services from GRS, the closest other option for air travel is the Marina di Campo Airport located on Elba Island and the Pisa International Airport located in Pisa, Italy.
