King Abdulazziz International Airport – JED Airport
King Abdulaziz International Airport is located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the country’s busiest airport and the third largest airport in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It has a special Hajj Terminal built for Muslim pilgrims during the Hajj. It is one of the largest terminals in the world that can handle up to 80,000 passengers at one time.
Best Time to Visit
JED Airport began construction in 1974 and was completed in 1980. On May 1981, the airport finally opened for service after inaugurated in April of 1981. The airport sits on 15 square kilometers of land and includes a royal terminal, King Abdullah Air Base to accommodate the Royal Saudi Air Force, as well as housing for the airport staff. In 2019, the new KAIA had a soft opening and operated a few domestic flights. This new airport is considered one of the largest in the world. It features an 810,000 square meters of lounge, a transport center, a huge aquarium, and a mosque with a 3,732 capacity for worshippers. Al Andalus, Ali Salamah, and Dhahban use the KAIA for local and international travels.
