London City Airport – LCY London City
The London City Airport is an international airport in London, England, UK, and one of the most accessible, located just six miles (9.5 kilometers) east of Central London and three miles (4.8 kilometers) from Canary Wharf. It is the fifth busiest London airport in passenger and aircraft movements, after Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and Luton. With an airport code of LCY, the airport was the 14th busiest in the U.K. in 2017.
Best Time to Visit
LCY-London City Airport uses a single 4,900-foot (1,500 meters) runway and has only one two-storey passenger terminal building. It owes its relatively small size to both the limited space in the London Docklands, as well as the low volume of passengers that come through it. Check-in desks and some service facilities are housed on the ground floor of the terminal, while security, several shops, and the airside waiting area are on the upper level. The waiting area connects to piers on either side, where corridors on the upper floor lead to the departure gates on the ground. All passengers have to walk-board since LCY does not have any jet bridges. Alitalia, British Airways, CityJet, Blue Islands, KLM, Lufthansa, Luxair, Sky Work, and Swiss International are the airlines that currently fly from London City Airport, which is ideal for travelers to Purley, Redhill, Bromley, Romford, and London.
