Martinsicuro: Medieval and the Marine
“Turris to Tructum” or “Castrum Truentinum” were what Martinsicuro, Italy called centuries ago. It is a town lying at the banks of Tronto River with a history as far back as the Bronze Age. The town’s present-day name originated from Captain Martin de Segura, a Spaniard who built a watchtower in town as ordered by King Charles V. Nowadays, Martinsicuro is famed seaside resort.
Best Time to Visit
Martinsicuro, Italy enjoys a fairly good weather all year round. To maximize your trip, it is ideal to visit the town during the middle of the year from June until September when there is plenty of sunshine to explore yet there are fewer tourists and Martinsicuro hotels are less expensive. The Martinsicuro Sea Festival takes place every August.
What to Do & Area Attractions
Along the Tronto River is a massive tower built by Captain Martin de Segura to protect Martinsicuro from pirate attacks. It is named after King Charles V hence, it is called Tower of Charles V. It now serves a museum where you can learn about the town’s past. Of course you do not want to miss the Martinsicuro Beach so go ahead and tire yourself out swimming or playing in the sand. Near the Tronto River is a natural reserve where there are walking trails available.
