Eloy Alfaro International Airport – MEC – Manta, Ecuador
The Eloy Alfaro International Airport is a combined military air base and civilian airport. It is located on the Pacific coast near the Manta area, which is a city in the Province of Manabi, Ecuador. MEC – Manta, Ecuador is also called the Eloy Alfaro Air Base. It is named after Eloy Alfaro in honor of Ecuador’s former President. This airport is the fourth busiest in Ecuador. On the 24th of October 1978, the Ecuadorian Air Force inaugurated it.

The Air Forces Southern Air Force, which is a United States Southern Command component, used the Eloy Alfaro International Airport until July 2009. It was used for the operations to fight the illegal drugs, particularly cocaine, operations in the northwestern part of America. The airport provides services to 42 flights to 12 different routes. Some of the most popular routes include Manta to San Diego, Houston, Quito, Dallas, and Sept-lies. Montecristi, Portoviejo and Puerto Cayo are some of the cities surrounding the airport.

It’s budget-friendly but the service is world class.
The Eloy Alfaro International Airport is also near the PVO-Reales Tamarindos Airport. However, the airport is now closed and all flights were relocated to the Eloy Alfaro International Airport.
