Merseburg: An Old Medieval City
Merseburg is one of the oldest towns, located in the southern part of Saxony-Anhait, in Germany. It is the capital of the Saalekreis district. It was first known in 850 when King Henry the Fowler built a royal palace. The town had so much history deep into its origins. One of which is the famous discovery of the Merseburg Incantations discovered in the city in 1841. They are the only known examples of German pagan belief preserved in Old High German. In the 20th century, Merseburg thrived both industrial and ecological for their modern and historical sites. However, after the World War II, the historic town center was almost completely wiped out.
