Omura: A Spring City On A War Memorial
Situated on the tip of Japan, the town of Omura, Japan in Nagasaki has a historical heritage. Omura was previously a castle town under the rule of the dominant Omura clan. The prosperous rule included international trade and cultural exchanges with neighboring countries until modernization took over. Followed by the severe destruction in WWII, the traditional town was burnt to the bones. The current modern city has been developed on top of the destruction. Commemorating the WWII is best done in this town with its several monuments dedicated to the war and the town’s resiliency.

Aside from being a war memorial, Omura is a flower haven. Flowers bloom in public places and often colors the stillness of the town. Every March to June, the town, together with local and foreign tourists, celebrate spring with the Omura Flower Festival. Make sure you book your Omura hotels earlier than a month.
