Orebic: Escaping in Croatia’s Cradle of Sailors
Orebic, Croatia is a small, untouched town with a population of around 2,500. It is located in the county of Dubrovnik-Neretva and lies on the peninsula of Pelješac. The town got its name from the family who refurbished the ancient castle in the town and earned hereditary nobility from Emperor Joseph. Orebic has developed into a small-scale tourism area, with lots of locally owned resorts, hotels, and inns dotting the town.
Best Time to Visit
Similar to the neighboring towns of Orebic, it hosts several events and festivities in the summer, most of which are of religious importance. However, their most prominent activity is held every August, the Night of Peliski Sails. This is generally dedicated to fishermen and sailors, but tourists are also welcome to attend. This usually makes the summer season the busiest in the city, so expect crowded Orebic, Croatia hotels.
