Asturias Airport – OVD Asturias
Asturias Airport (OVD) is the only international airport in Asturias, Spain with regular scheduled domestic flights as well as scheduled international routes. OVD is situated in Anzu in Santiago del Monte in the municipality of Castrillón. This public airport is run by Aena and is a focus city for Volotea and Vueling.
This airport opened in 1968 with the first commercial route to Madrid. In 1980, OVD was renovated for expansion in preparation for the World Cup, which was scheduled in 1982 to be held in Spain. In 2003, improvements were made to OVD so that it can accommodate more passengers and increase aircraft traffic.
