San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport – SBP
The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, also known as McChesney Field, is a civil airport in the U.S. State of California. The airport is located near San Luis Obispo City, California. The airport, whose airport code is SBP, was established and used as a U.S. military airfield from 1939 to 1945 and was turned back to San Luis Obispo County. It was only in 1946 when the airport was first used for public and commercial use. As of this time the airport was served by four airlines with 9 destinations; Seattle, Phoenix, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Diego, Denver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland, and SanFrancisco.

SBP-San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport was opened in 1939 to be used for Chicago and Southern Airline as leased property from the county. Its operation was halted when the U.S. government took over the airport for U.S. Army Air Corps and California National Guard base. In 1946, the federal government turned over the airport to the county. It immediately started operating that year as a passenger airport. Since then airlines come and go serving in the airport. This year, two airlines had just added operating in the airport and another one announced flights to start in 2020. You can easily access and explore Carpinteria and Buelton, which are the cities close to the airport upon arrival.
