Schwechat: An Exciting Town Just Outside Vienna
Schwechat, Austria named after the town’s very own River Schwechat is home to the country’s largest and busiest airport – the Vienna International Airport (VIE). Those who wish to visit the town may do so from this airport that is less than 20 minutes away. Scwechat’s history goes back as early as the Roman Empire and has long been the center of oil production in the country. It is also highly-acclaimed for its local beer called Schwechater beer.
Best Time to Visit
Summer is the only season when it is warm over at Schwechat, Austria. Other seasons range from mildly cool to freezing cold. With this, it is agreeable that the best time to visit the town is from summer months of June to August. However, these are the months when there are huge number of travelers and Schwechat hotels are costly. Come around spring or fall, both still with comfortable weather, to avoid the crowd.

Schwechat’s close proximity to Austria’s capital, Vienna, gives it an advantage on having many attractions nearby. Schloss Altkettenhoff situated near the heart of the town is a Baroque palace where you can feel like a royalty who went back in time. Several museums are also scattered between the town and the capital city such as the Johann Strauss Museum. A bit farther, for about an hour drive you can find the Danube-Auen National Park, where you can enjoy learning about flora and fauna.
