Considered as the main gateway of Calabria, Italy, Lamezia Terme International Aiport is also known as San't Eufemia Airport. Its airport code or IATA code, SUF, is derived from its local name, which is a district in Lamezia Terme, Italy. The establishment of the airport began in 1965 when CONSAER was commissioned by the government to construct transportation buildings, such as railways and ports. The airport began serving domestic flights by 1976. It was then expanded and modernized in 1982 where the Lamezia Terme Airport began serving international flight destinations. Currently, the airport serves 39 flight destinations, both local and international.

In fact, the airport is constantly undergoing renovations to improve its facilities and extend its runway to allow wide-body aircraft, such as the new airbus. The airport is also considered as a major transport hub due to its nearby railway system. Upon arrival, travelers can easily head-off to Tropea for a relaxing vacation.
